Nationwide Arena, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025. With this milestone came the realization that their 300,000 sq ft roof needed a refresh. After diagnostic tests and visual exams of the roof system, Tremco found it was still in good condition and therefore the perfect candidate for a roof restoration to extend its service life.
Compared to a roof replacement, the restoration process proved to be far more cost-effective, saving the project over $4 million! Malcor Roofing installed Tremco’s AlphaGuard BIO fully reinforced system, which enabled the arena to remain operational during construction so they could continue to host their revenue-generating events without disruption.
“I would 100% recommend Tremco products to other arenas due to the fact that it is very low maintenance and allowed us to keep our event schedule completely normal,” explained Ben Roderick, Project Coordinator for Nationwide Arena.
The AlphaGuard BIO liquid-applied roof restoration came with a 20-year warranty, which includes inspections at years 2, 5, 10 and 15, when Tremco will return for general roof maintenance and upkeep. In the end, the arena’s restoration was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, resulting in a very satisfied owner who looks forward to another 20+ years of success.
