New York Convention Center

After being used as an impromptu 3000-bed field hospital in the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic, this New York City convention center was ready to transition back to its regular event use. However, the facility would first need a comprehensive disinfection and remediation protocol to confirm public safety.

To address the highly sensitive patient areas, WTI PureAir was brought in to disinfect the entire facility, even its rooftop HVAC equipment. The expo halls, atrium, retail stores, restaurants, offices, locker rooms, service corridors and loading docks were all thoroughly disinfected and sanitized.

For the HVAC system, the existing filters were decontaminated, removed and properly disposed. Next, the units were meticulously HEPA-vacuumed, cleaned and sanitized and new HEPA filters were installed. This building and HVAC cleaning process ensures that the staff and occupants breathe clean air throughout the facility. So after the massive disinfecting initiative was complete, the convention center returned as a public events space with the reassurance that any prior traces of the COVID-19 virus were eradicated.
